She has well over 25 years of experience working with a myriad of mental health and substance abuse illnesses. She has also won the Outstanding Patient Experience Awardâ„¢ for years 2015, 2014, and 2013.

Barb Davis, General Manager, Ins. & Billing Specialist, Hiring Manager
Barb went to college at Arizona State University where she recieved a degree in business management and accounting. Later, she also decided to obtain a degree in medical dictation and transcription. She's worked the past 20 years in the medical and billing field at top locations such as Phoenix Memorial Hospital as HR Director and KU Med Center as Supervisor of the Optometry Department, all while also working as a medical transcriber for different Dr. offices around Mesa, Arizona, working as the CA and Manager of a Chiropractic office in Ottawa, Kansas and training others in medical billing via phone at offices in California , Arizona , and Texas. She came to Midwest Psychiatric in 2011 and started as a billing/ account reconciliation manager and receptionist. During this time, she worked side by side with Dr. Davila creating what everyone knows today as Dr Maria Davila's Awakenings Intensive Out Patient Treatment Center for substance abuse and mental health disorders. She is now the General Manager/ Hiring Manager/ Ins & Billing Specialist and Finance Officer for Midwest Psychiatric PA/ Awakenings. Beverly Larkin, LMSW LCAC
CLINICAL DIRECTOR, Beverly Larkin came to Awakenings with 25 yrs of experience in the Mental Health and Substance abuse field. She has worked in community Mental Health Centers with the dual diagnosis clients, opened a residential substance abuse center for the dept of corrections, worked in a high school as a social worker, and worked at SMMC for 18.5 yrs with adolescents and adults suffering from mental health issues and substance abuse. She was the coordinator of the Adolescent substance abuse program for 8.5 yrs at SMMC and then moved to the adult ARU IOP, and the adult inpt for dual diagnosis. She also worked in the assessment center (ER) providing assessments at SMMC. She represented SMMC on the Johnson county provider boards with all the substance abuse treatment providers for 17 yrs. She has known Dr. Davila for many years as they worked together at SMMC. She came here to continue helping clients to have a better quality of life and share her experiences in helping others.
